The white-and-black club has deeply redesigned the team after the Triplete. Fifteen players, numerous new faces and a technical identity to be built quickly in view of the Italian Supercup. The EA7 Olimpia Milano 2026/27 has now assumed its shape. After weeks characterized by departures, negotiations and new signings, the white-and-black club is preparing to hand over to Peppe Poeta a deeply renewed group, called to defend its Italian title and relaunch its European ambitions.

The work conducted by the management has allowed to complete in relatively short times a roster destined to include fifteen players. To close the market formally, there are still awaited the communications related to the arrivals of Moses Wright and Garrison Mathews: according to the reported rumors, the agreements would have already been defined and only the official announcements of the EA7 Olimpia would be missing.

The construction of the roster, however, represents only the first phase of the new project. Now begins the more complex task: transforming a sum of players, individual qualities and different experiences into a recognizable, balanced and capable team of sustaining the pace of a particularly long season.

The weight of the Triplete and the city's expectations

The new season will be born under the weight, inevitable, of what was achieved in the previous season. The EA7 Olimpia Milano arrives indeed from the Triplete, a result that has further increased the level of expectations around the team and consolidated the club's position at the top of the Italian basketball.

Winning creates enthusiasm, but also modifies the perspective. Every opponent will face Milan with particular motivations and with the desire to measure themselves against the reference formation of the national movement. Poeta's team must therefore be prepared to manage not only the technical difficulties, but also the pressure that accompanies those who start with the declared goal of continuing to win.

Poeta's task

The coach will not only have to insert the new players into the offensive and defensive systems, but also to identify the most effective combinations, distribute the possessions and build a solid collective identity. Talent, in a team called to compete at the highest levels, is indispensable. However, it is not sufficient. In a calendar that obliges to descend into the field with great frequency between the championship and the Euroleague, continuity, adaptability and the availability of individuals to play different roles become determinants.

For Milan, the true success of the market will therefore not be measured exclusively through the prestige of the names arrived. The judgment will depend above all on the way in which the players will be able to complete each other and the speed with which the group will be able to absorb the requests of their coach.
