EA7 Olimpia Milano has officially closed two chapters of its summer transfer window with the departures of Nate Sestina and Zach LeDay. The two players, who donned the red-and-white jersey for the past two seasons, will no longer be part of the roster for the upcoming EuroLeague campaign. LeDay, a 6-foot-7 power forward from the U.S., is heading to Hapoel Tel Aviv after leaving his mark in the Italian league with averages of 12.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Sestina, meanwhile, is reportedly set to join ASVEL in France after contributing 8.2 points and 3.1 rebounds per contest with Olimpia last season.

What happened at EA7 Olimpia Milano

Olimpia made the splits official on Monday, July 13 at 7:00 PM CET, closing a cycle that saw both players become key contributors on offense and the boards. LeDay, in particular, left a lasting impression with a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds in a 98-85 win over Virtus Bologna on May 12, 2024. Sestina wrapped his season with a career-high 18 points against Germani Brescia on April 21, 2024. Both players secured competitive offers from European clubs, with LeDay inking a one-year deal with Hapoel and Sestina nearing a two-year agreement with ASVEL.

Where Sestina and LeDay are headed after Milan

Zach LeDay, 30, is leaving Italy after two seasons in which he logged 1,240 points and 520 rebounds in 98 games for Olimpia. His move to Hapoel Tel Aviv represents a step up in EuroCup play, where the Israeli side is aiming for the title. Nate Sestina, meanwhile, is set to land in France: ASVEL, the reigning LNB Pro A champions, is said to have agreed to a two-year deal with the 27-year-old forward, a former Virginia Tech standout.

Olimpia’s summer continues as club eyes reinforcements

Despite the two exits, EA7 Olimpia Milano has not yet closed its summer window. Ettore Messina’s side is working on multiple fronts to bolster the roster ahead of the upcoming EuroLeague season. Rumors point to a veteran point guard and a small forward to add more balance to the squad. The departures, however, open doors for youth talents from the club’s academy or players with fewer minutes last season. The EuroLeague 2024-25 calendar tips off on October 2 with the first round, where Olimpia will face Real Madrid on the road.
